In February 2017, the Victorian Government launched its first Social Enterprise Strategy. The Strategy seeks to expand and improve government support for Victoria’s social enterprises, with the aim of positioning them as national leaders in driving employment participation and inclusive economic growth.
The Victorian Government’s Social Enterprise Strategy consists of the following eight items across three action areas:
Action area 1: Increasing impact and innovation
- Opening doors for social enterprises
- Connecting the community
- Valuing social enterprise’s impact
Action area 2: Building business capacity and skills
- Building skills to grow your business
- Assisting intermediaries
Action area 3: Improving market access
- Social procurement framework
- Social enterprise recognition
- Marketplace partnering – on-line matching platform and on-ground events calendar
