About the Project

Map for Impact was commissioned by the Victorian Government, Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR) as part of the Victorian Government’s Social Enterprise Strategy 2017. Professor Jo Barraket and Dr Erin Castellas, both of the Centre for Social Impact at Swinburne University of Technology, were the project lead and project manager, respectively.

Map for Impact has produced:

  1. A searchable map of social enterprises across metropolitan and regional areas of Victoria;
  2. A database of Victorian social enterprises and intermediaries including the names, ABN and contact details of organisations, provided to the DEDJTR to support its engagement of the sector; and
  3. A report that describes the organisational characteristics, activities and impacts of Victoria’s social enterprises—including age, size, diversity of management, social purpose, performance measurement practices, and economic and social impacts.

The Centre for Social Impact completed the project in November 2017. Although the data on this website is periodically updated, it should be treated as a ‘snapshot’ of the social enterprise sector at that point-in-time.

If you would like to add or edit a social enterprise on the interactive Map4Impact map, please fill out this form.

Acknowledgements

This project was commissioned by the Victorian Government Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport, and Resources (DEDJTR) as part of the implementation of the Victorian Social Enterprise Strategy. Social Traders and a number of other stakeholders provided important access to proprietary data to support the project. Members of the Industry Reference Group provided input to the project design and analysis of findings. A number of stakeholder organisations also actively assisted in sharing information and promoting the project to their networks.

The project team particularly thanks:

All the Victorian social enterprises and intermediaries that participated in this project!
